“Each man in all the unrepeatable reality of what he is and what he does, of his intellect and will, of his conscience and heart.”-St. John Paul II
God takes us places we could never imagine, and brings things out of places that are unimaginable. This summer, God did just that to me.
For the next couple of posts I am going to be focusing on my time in Poland and talking about some of the best people I met and encountered in Poland: St. John Paul II, Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, St. Faustina Kowalska, and Bl. Jerzy Popieluszko. I say met, because before I went on this trip, I certainly admired and was inspired by these great Saints, but I did not know them. So many times we ask Saint’s for our prayers because they are the patron saint of x, or because we have heard about them.
When I went to the places they lived, encountered some of the people they met, and finally met them in prayer as I prayed over their relics or in the rooms they lived in I felt like I was meeting them as a person. We forget that Saints are people like you and me, ordinary people who struggled, sinned, and went through the rough day to day life. They are ordinary people who chose to do something extraordinary-follow God’s call wherever it led them. I encourage you to get to meet your patron Saint, the saint who inspires you the most and to get to know them as persons. They are rooting for you in heaven and want to know you.
Keep me in your prayers and be assured of mine.
p.s More to come from Poland soon!
