“Then Peter took him by the right hand and raised him up,
and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong.
He leaped up, stood, and walked around,
and went into the temple with them,
walking and jumping and praising God.” Acts 3:7-9.
Lord, You raised up the crippled man and strengthened his ankles so that he could stand. How often do I feel like I cannot stand on my own? That hard week seems to really want to take away the Easter Joy of your resurrection.
My ankles are weary, I can no longer stand the burden of life’s challenges. I relate to that poor beggar sitting at the bottom of the stairs. Begging for that next pay check, that one extra hour of sleep, that one more good grade. Every one of us at some point has begged at those stairs. What are you begging for?
Then Peter took him by the hand and raised him up and immediately his feet and ankles grew strong.
You raise us out of our trials, our weariness, you help us to get through that one more day filled with chaos. You make us strong.
But how often do we feel that it is easy just to stand. Is surviving that one more day what God wants for us? Are we just meant to be able to stand?
No, God wants so much more for us this Easter season. He doesn’t only want us to stand, but to dance, to leap through the day praising him. His resurrection doesn’t just sustain us, it gives us a new life. This Eastertide, I challenge you to jump, sing, smile, be made new! Let the Joy of the resurrection shape your day. For our God raises you up from the burden of your day and asks you to dance with him.
He loves you and I love you dearly.
